What is the feed-in tariff?
The feed-in tariff is a fixed rate per unit of electricity produced by your Solar PV system. The Government backed scheme introduced on the 1st April 2010 and amended in April 2012 will pay you a tax free sum of 21p for each unit (kWh) of electricity generated and is guaranteed for 25 years. It’s applicable to all systems under 4kW.
What is the payback time on the system?
Based on current average electricity costs, and assuming modest inflation of energy prices, the payback period should be between 8 and 10 years. This figure could significantly reduce if electricity prices undoubtedly continue to soar. Another plus is the added value the system brings to the price of your property.

Does my Solar PV system need to be south facing?
The system should ideally be south facing. South east or south west facing will still benefit but there will be a 5- 10 % reduction in power generated over the course of the year. Your Solar PV system should be sited so there is no shading during the day from nearby buildings, walls, trees etc.
Is any maintenance required?
One of the key advantages of Solar PV systems over other renewable energy systems is the small amount of maintenance required. There are no moving parts to wear out and any bird droppings or dust that settles on the modules will be washed off by rainfall. As with any electrical system in the home, periodic inspection and testing is required.
Do Solar PV systems make any noise?
